CDC Guidelines for Prescribing Opiates for Chronic Pain with Urine Drug Testing — United States, 2016
On March 18, 2016 the CDC released new guidelines for prescribing Opiates for chronic pain and also some helpful information on how urine drug screening plays a key role.
From the CDC, "When prescribing opioids for chronic pain, clinicians should use urine drug testing before starting opioid therapy and consider urine drug testing at least annually to assess for prescribed medications as well as other controlled prescription drugs and illicit drugs"
