Drug Screening Test Cups
Drug screening test cups often come in many shapes and sizes. Most often a cup comes in 120ml with a temperature strip and sealed lid. Some cups are flat to assist with making copies of the results while other are round. Most cups will trigger a result as soon as urine enters the cup and therefor the cup should be read within 5 minutes.
Drug testing cups originated due to illicit drug use in the USA. In the 1980 the US saw a huge increase in drug use and in turn a need to test people and patients for drug use.
Drug Testing Cups come in two forms: CLIA and Non CLIA waived.
Drug screening Test cups come with a leak resistant lid, temperature strip and built in testing strips. The strips can screen for drugs of abuse and adulterations. Available drug strips are Amphetamines, barbiturates, Buprenorphine, Benzodiazepines, Cocaine, MDMA< Methamphetamines, Methadone, Opiates, Oxycodone, PCP, Propoxyphene, tricyclic antidepressants and marijuana. The available adulterations are Creatinine, Nitrites, PH, Bleach and Specific Gravity.
Cups can be purchased will all of the above strips built into one cup or you can pick and choose the drugs that matter to you.

Most cups also come with a cover/ label so patients can’t read their own results. The label will also provide the key on how to read the results. Be sure to note the control line, which indicates the test strip, is working properly.
